New National Standard
Patriotism, Civil Service & Cultural Pride
Teaching discipline, unity, and leadership with integrity to a new generation of builders
OUR MISSION
The National Builders Party (NBP) recognizes that national development requires a cohesive approach to shared purpose, values and identity. To support this, the NBP plans to establish a new National Standard; a defined set of ideals to be taught and followed by Gambians. These principles include patriotism, civic responsibility, cultural pride, discipline, unity, and leadership with integrity. The Standard would be incorporated into the education system and community initiatives, acting as a blueprint for future nation-building efforts. Through this agenda, we will raise a generation that not only understands their duty to the country, but is inspired to fulfill it.
OUR PLAN
National Identity Through Education
The new National Standards will be formally adopted throughout all educational levels, from early childhood education to university level. The civic education curriculum would be redesigned to reflect these values and implemented into both public and private institutions.
The New National Education Curriculum Would Cover:
- Historical aspects such as Gambia’s independence, key events, notable individuals, and cultural diversity
- Principles of citizenship, democracy, governance, and rule of law
- Topics relating to community service, volunteer work, and national duty
- Ethical leadership, anti-corruption standpoints, and respect for public institutions
- Nation-building strategies including environmental management, development economics, and public innovation
- Civic leadership and public speaking
- Debates on national and continental issues.
- Critical thinking and leadership skills development
- The involvement of youth in regional and national progress
This academic integration aims to prepare generational youth both academically and with an understanding of their collective role in building a stronger nation.
IMPLEMENTATION
Training the Educators
Implementation of the National Standard would require training for teachers, guidance counselors, and civic educators. The NBP intends to launch a National Civic Educators Fellowship Program to empower and equip educators to deliver this curriculum nationwide.
Cultural Reinforcement via Media and Tradition
To extend the National Standard beyond formal education, the NBP plans to introduce multimedia campaigns, children’s content, radio programs, and educational drama series to promote its principles in accessible formats. Community participation; including elders, religious leaders, and cultural figures would supplement institutional efforts to promote national core values in alignment with local traditions.
Legislative and Institutional Measures
A National Patriotic Act is proposed to give legal recognition to the initiative. A Civic Training and Development Agency would be established to oversee curriculum design, educator training, youth engagement assessment, and implementation monitoring.
IMPORTANCE
Our outlined approach combines policy, legislation, education, and cultural reinforcement to advance National Development and Identity among Gambians.
The National Builders Party aims to build a culture where every Gambian generation grows up prepared to live in a better Gambia and also to build one.
