Feeding the Nation, Growing the Economy
NBP
Overview
The Gambia has the land, the river, and the farmers. What it has lacked is a government that invests in them.
Without irrigation, farmers get one shot a year. Without storage, they sell cheap at harvest or watch produce rot. Without market connections, middlemen take the profit. The Gambia imports the rice its own soil can grow. The National Builders Party will change every one of these realities.
Our Vision
A Gambia where the rice on your table was grown here, milled here, and put there by a farmer who earned a real living doing it. Where farming is not what you do when you have no other choice. It is what you build a future on.
#1
Agriculture is the largest employer in The Gambia
Rice
The national staple. Today largely imported. Under NBP, grown here.
2–3x
More crops per year possible with proper irrigation investment
Key Commitments
What the NBP will build
The NBP will build irrigation so farmers can grow year-round
10,000 new irrigated hectares over five years, ending the single-season trap and giving every farmer the ability to plant, plan, and profit on their own schedule.
National Irrigation Development ProgramThe NBP will make The Gambia rice self-sufficient
Regional milling plants, community grain storage, and certified high-yield seeds deployed across every major rice-growing zone. Food sovereignty in five years.
National Rice Development ProgramThe NBP will put direct cash payments in registered farmers' hands
Performance-linked payments at planting, mid-season, and harvest. Verified by field officers. No leakage through middlemen.
National Farmer Cash Incentive ProgramThe NBP will modernize the fishing industry
Cold storage, processing facilities, fair licensing systems, and market connections that ensure Gambian fishermen earn the real value of what they catch.
Fishing Industry Modernization ProgramThe NBP will protect the environment and coastline that agriculture depends on
Protecting farmland from development, addressing beach degradation and sand mining, and transforming the Bakoteh dumpsite into productive land.
Environmental Protection FrameworkThe NBP will brand and export what Gambian farmers grow
A Made in The Gambia agricultural brand, agro-processing facilities, and export market connections that move products from raw crops to finished goods.

The National Standard
No Gambian farmer works their land without the tools, the water, the knowledge, and the market access to earn a real living from it. No Gambian family goes hungry while the country imports the food its own soil can grow. No young person looking for a future is forced to choose between the Backway and subsistence farming. Under the National Builders Party, agriculture will be what it has always had the potential to be: the engine of Gambian prosperity.
