Military Modernization

Reform and Modernize the Military

Implement a well structured and professionally trained military

OUR MISSION

A nation cannot thrive without  proper territorial security assurance and no security apparatus is complete without a well structured and professionally trained military. The National Builders Party (NBP) understands that The Gambia’s Armed Forces must evolve from a passive defense military into a dynamic, modern and versatile institution capable of defending the homeland and thus support regional peace efforts. The Gambia National Army GNA should be well prepared to  participate in nation building work as well as contribute in  disaster response operations.

With the aforementioned in mind, our comprehensive reform program will rebuild the Gambia Armed Forces from the ground up.

This modernization blueprint will involve the physical construction of new modern military bases across the country to meet the modern international posture of a standard Army. The institutional reform will also stipulate clear boundaries within which our Armed Force shall operate with strong emphasis on professionalism, strategic readiness and dignity.

OUR PLAN

1. The NBP Plans to Construct a National Military Airfield

To address logistical and operational gaps in our current defense framework, the NBP will oversee the construction of a purpose-built military airfield, strategically located to provide rapid deployment capability for emergency operations or defense missions.
The Airfield will also provide aerial surveillance to secure our borders and coastline.
As part of their duties to serve their country, the Military would also provide support for humanitarian airlifts during floods, wildfires or medical emergencies.
The Airfield shall also serve as a base for training and simulation exercises using real-time air operations.
In accordance with the NBP vision, this military airfield will be designed with modular expansion capacity, capable of hosting helicopters, transport aircraft, unmanned drones and surveillance planes.

2. Acquisition of Military Aircraft and Equipment

Modern defense demands modern tools. Under the NBP, The Gambia Armed Forces will work towards acquiring some of the following:

  • Multi-purpose helicopters for troop transport, medical evacuation and aerial reconnaissance.
  • Fixed-wing military aircraft for training, supply transport, and border patrol.
  • A carefully designed procurement strategy that  ensures sustainability, affordability and partnership with trusted global suppliers.

These assets will allow The Gambia to confidently support international peacekeeping missions, enhance national security, and play a more active role in regional security operations.

3. Military Housing and Welfare for Service Members

Behind every strong soldier is a stable home. The NBP will construct modern military housing units for all serving personnel and their families. These housing developments will be fully serviced with electricity, clean water and sanitation.
The future bases will include community facilities such as level 1 and level 2 clinics, places of worship, and recreation centers. The NBP believes that taking care of our troops will promote stability and dignity for the men and women who dedicate their lives to national service.
With the National Builders Party, the welfare of our soldiers will not be an afterthought, it will be a cornerstone of our defense strategy.

4. Training and  Professional Development

The Armed Forces of any nation are only as strong as its leadership and discipline. The NBP will invest in training and strategic education at every level of the Armed Forces.
Officers and enlisted members will receive continuous professional development in areas such as strategy, logistics, intelligence, cyber defense and civil-military relations.
The NBP will foster international training partnerships with leading military academies and peacekeeping training centers in Europe, Asia, and Africa.
Special emphasis will be placed on ethical leadership, human rights and international humanitarian law to ensure The Gambian Armed forces operate with honor at home and abroad.
This training model will create a highly skilled, multi-role force capable of adapting to the complex security challenges of our time.

IMPORTANCE

Under NBP leadership, The Gambia’s military will be reborn not as a passive institution of the past, but as a pillar of national progress and security. We will honor those who serve not only with words but with investment in their future, tools for their mission and respect for their sacrifice.

Our vision is clear: a Gambian Armed Forces that stands tall among regional peers, trusted by its people and ready to secure the peace, stability, and sovereignty of a new Gambia.
