Who we are

The National Builders Party (NBP) is a registered political party in The Gambia. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean NBP and the campaign team acting for it. We operate the website nbpgambia.com.

What information we collect

We collect information in three ways.

Information you give us. When you use our Join, Volunteer, Contact or newsletter forms, you may give us your name, email address, phone or WhatsApp number, region, town or constituency, the ways you would like to help, your availability, and any message you write to us.

Information from donations. This website does not collect bank card numbers. When you give by mobile money, the payment is handled by the provider you use, such as Wave. We may see the sender name, number, amount and reference that the provider shows us, so that we can record and confirm your gift. If you give by bank transfer, we will see the details on the bank record.

Information collected automatically. When you visit the site, our hosting and website tools may record your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you view, and the date and time of your visit. Some of this is collected using cookies (see the cookies section below).

How we use your information

  • To process your sign up and connect you with your local team.
  • To match volunteers with roles and plan events.
  • To send campaign updates, event invitations and news, only where you have asked for them.
  • To reply to your questions and messages.
  • To record and confirm donations and keep party finances in order.
  • To keep the website secure, fix problems and understand which pages are useful.
  • To meet our legal duties, including duties to the Independent Electoral Commission.

We do not use your information for anything unrelated to these purposes without asking you first.

Why we may process it

We rely mainly on your consent, which you give when you submit a form and tick the consent boxes. You can withdraw consent at any time. In some cases we also process information because we need to in order to run a lawful political party, to keep proper financial records, or to follow the law.

Who we share it with

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with:

  • Service providers that help us run the campaign, such as our website host, form and email delivery tools, our newsletter service and our email system. They may only use your information to provide their service to us.
  • Authorized party officers and volunteers who need it to do their work, for example a regional coordinator who contacts supporters in your area. We ask them to keep it confidential.
  • Public bodies where the law requires it, such as the Independent Electoral Commission or a court.

Political affiliation and sensitive information

Signing up to a political party can reveal your political views. We treat that information with extra care. We limit access to people who need it, we do not publish supporter names or contact details, and we will not share supporter lists with other parties, advertisers or data brokers.

Transfers outside The Gambia

Some of our tools are provided by companies that store or process data in other countries. Many of our supporters also live abroad. By using our forms you understand that your information may be handled outside The Gambia. We choose providers with care and take reasonable steps to protect your information wherever it is handled.

How long we keep it

We keep supporter and volunteer information while you remain active with the movement and for a reasonable time afterward, unless you ask us to delete it sooner. We keep donation and financial records for as long as the law and sound accounting require. Messages you send us are kept for as long as needed to respond and follow up.

How we protect it

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including secure hosting, limited access, and trusted service providers. No online service is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security. If we learn of a breach that affects you, we will act quickly and tell you where required.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to:

  • tell you what information we hold about you;
  • correct information that is wrong or out of date;
  • delete your information;
  • stop sending you updates (every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also write to us);
  • withdraw any consent you have given.

Email us at hello@nbpgambia.com and we will respond as soon as we reasonably can.

Children

Our sign up and volunteer forms are for Gambian citizens aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
